First Sunday checklist
Tick as you go. Your ticks are kept on this device until you press “Clear ticks”.

After the service
Start a service or meeting
- Sign in at this site’s sign-in page with your staff email.
- Scheduled already? Go to Dashboard → Meetings and press Start. Not scheduled? Press New meeting on the front page.
- On the join screen, pick your camera and microphone, then press Join.
- To invite people, press Participants → Invite and copy the link, or send it on WhatsApp.
For a big service, choose Webinar when you schedule: only people you bring on stage can talk, and everyone else watches and chats.
Letting people in, and keeping order
- Waiting room: people wait until a host lets them in. Open Participants and press Admit.
- Mute someone, make them a co-host, or remove them: hover over their name in Participants and press ⋯.
- Lock the meeting once everyone is in: Participants → Lock meeting.
- In a webinar: to let someone speak, use Bring on stage; afterwards, Move to attendees.
- A person you remove can’t come back into that meeting with the same link.
Go live to OBN Watch, YouTube or Facebook
- Press Studio in the bottom bar (on a phone, it’s under ⋯ More).
- Under Go live, OBN Watch is already on the list. To add YouTube or Facebook, press + YouTube or + Facebook and paste the stream key from that site.
- Press Go live. The On air light turns on. What you see in the Program box is what viewers get.
- Use the quick buttons: Name (preacher’s caption), Scripture (type “John 3:16” and look it up), Ticker (scrolling message) and Slate (cover screen).
- Press End live stream when you finish.
Only the meeting’s owner, people with the host link, or an administrator can go live. If the button says you can’t, sign in first.
Going live takes a lot of the computer’s power. Use a laptop or desktop, not a phone, and keep it plugged in.
Record
- Cloud recording (best for services): Studio → Cloud recording. It records the program with captions and graphics. The replay appears in Dashboard → Recordings a few minutes after you stop.
- Record on this computer: ⋯ More → Record. The file downloads to your computer when you stop.
- To put a replay on OBN Watch: Dashboard → Recordings → open the recording → tick Show on OBN Watch → Save.
Giving moment
- Press Engage in the bottom bar (on a phone, under ⋯ More), then the Giving tab.
- Type a short message (for example “Thank you for supporting this ministry”).
- Press Start giving moment. Everyone in the meeting gets a Give card with a QR code, and it shows on the live broadcast.
Gifts are listed in Dashboard → Giving, where an administrator can also email yearly statements.
Visitors and prayer requests
- Welcome card: Engage → Giving → Show welcome card. New guests fill it in; their details go to Dashboard → Visitors. Viewers on OBN Watch can press I’m new here at any time.
- Prayer requests come from the Prayer tab in meetings and the Send a prayer request button on OBN Watch. Only staff can see them, in Dashboard → Prayer requests.
- In Visitors, untick “Still to follow up” once someone has been contacted.
After the service
- Recordings: watch, download, share highlight clips, or show the replay on OBN Watch.
- Analytics: how many people joined, watched live, and for how long.
- Meeting notes (if the AI Companion is turned on) are emailed to the host.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| No camera or microphone | Press the small arrow next to the mic or camera button and pick the right one. In the browser’s address bar, click the camera icon and choose “Allow”. On iPhone: Settings → Safari → Camera / Microphone → Allow. |
| Echo or squealing | Two devices in the same room both have their sound on. Mute one of them and turn its speaker down. |
| Video freezing | Check the signal bar. Move closer to the Wi-Fi, use a cable, or turn on Data saver in ⋯ More. |
| Viewers say the stream stopped | Check Studio still says On air. If not, press Go live again. Viewers on OBN Watch reconnect by themselves. |
| Someone can’t get in | Check the waiting room. If the meeting has a passcode, send them the full invite link (it includes the passcode). |
| Your connection dropped | Open the meeting link again. You come back as host, and your live stream and recording keep going on the server for a short while. |
One-time setup (administrators)
Everything is in Dashboard → Settings. Each service needs an account with that company, and you paste its key into Settings yourself. Never send keys by email or chat.
| Setting | What it gives you | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Invitations, reminders, receipts, password resets | SMTP details from your email provider (for example, Google Workspace: smtp.gmail.com, port 587, with an app password). | |
| Online giving | The Give button and giving page | Paystack → Settings → API Keys & Webhooks: copy the secret key, and paste the webhook address shown in Settings there. Stripe works the same way. |
| Video storage | Space for replays and nightly off-site backups | Linode → Object Storage → Create Bucket, then Access Keys → Create. Enter the endpoint, bucket name and both keys, then press Save & test storage. |
| Big audiences | Smooth replays and live video for hundreds of viewers | A CDN “pull zone” (for example Bunny.net) with this server as its origin. Paste its address in Settings. |
| Text messages (SMS) | Service reminders by text | Termii: register a sender ID (for example ONEWAYTV), then copy the API key. |
| AI Companion | Live captions, translation, meeting notes | console.anthropic.com → API keys (pay as you go). Leave it empty to keep AI off. |
| Phone dial-in | Join by ordinary phone call | Twilio phone number and Auth Token (optional). |
| Server health | An alert when the site is down | Free monitor at uptimerobot.com for the address shown in Settings → Server health, every 5 minutes. |
How big can a service be? Meetings and webinars handle hundreds of people. For a live broadcast with more than about 200 viewers watching at once, set up Big audiences (a CDN) first, or move the server to a 4-CPU Linode plan.
